Do you take insurance?
Not yet. The clinic is cash-pay while insurance credentialing is in progress. Prices for every visit type are published on the services page so there are no surprises.
What ages do you see?
As a family nurse practitioner I see patients across the age range, including well child visits and adult care. Well woman exams are for ages 21 and older.
Do you offer telehealth?
Yes, to patients located in Texas. Preventative health exams, many sick visits, follow ups and refills work well by video. Annual physicals, well woman exams, sports physicals, and the first weight loss visit must be done in the office.
Can I walk in?
No. Visits are scheduled by appointment so that whoever is being seen keeps their privacy. Call the clinic to book.
Am I a candidate for the weight loss program?
That can only be answered after an individual evaluation. The program is built for adult women with hormone-related weight concerns — thyroid disease, PCOS, perimenopause and menopause — who have not been able to lose weight with diet, exercise or previous medication. Some people are not candidates for GLP-1 medication at all, which is exactly what the initial evaluation and labs are for.
Why do I have to come in for the first weight loss visit?
Medications in the program are not prescribed without an in-office visit and a urine drug screen. That is a safety requirement, not a formality. Follow up visits afterward can be telehealth.
What does the weight loss program cost, and what is included?
The month-to-month program is $599 per month, with 3, 6 and 12 month options that reduce the monthly cost. The program price includes your monthly video visit, medication, labs every three months, sleep apnea testing in the first month, one-time cortisol testing, dose adjustments and unlimited secure messaging. The $50 weight loss initial visit is separate.
Are the weight loss medications the same as Ozempic or Mounjaro?
No. Compounded GLP-1 products are custom-compounded, vary from pharmacy to pharmacy, have not been evaluated or approved by the FDA for safety, efficacy or quality, and are not generic versions of brand-name medications. FDA-approved options are discussed first, and a compounded medication may be considered only when it is lawful and clinically appropriate for you. Enrolling does not guarantee that a medication will be prescribed.
What are the side effects?
Common adverse effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation and abdominal symptoms; severity and duration vary. More serious risks reported with these medications include pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, kidney injury from dehydration, and low blood sugar when combined with certain diabetes medications. FDA-approved semaglutide and tirzepatide products carry boxed warnings concerning thyroid C-cell tumors observed in rodents, and should not be used by people with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2. How much weight will I lose?
No specific result can be guaranteed; response varies by patient, medication, dose, duration and other factors. If progress is slower than expected, Carolyn will reassess your treatment response, adherence, side effects, dosing and lifestyle factors, and whether your symptoms or examination support evaluation for another condition.
Will you prescribe medication without seeing me?
No. Prescribing requires a real evaluation and a patient-provider relationship.
